Los Badicales

Posted in t-shirt designs with tags , , , on June 20, 2011 by jordanhalland

I grew up skateboarding and snowboarding so any time I can design for a snowboard or skateboard company the teenager in my brain has a party. This line of tees is for a clothing company based in Nashville. They were always positive and a pleasure to work with. The whim and excitement they have for their company is intoxicating and something I am trying to duplicate with my own brand. They really want to make awesome clothing that snowboarders can dig.
One of their themes is The Yeti attacking skiers and the above tee is that theme interpreted as an Iron Maiden teeshirt. It is definitely my favorite from the line. This was seriously one of my favorite projects by far. Please support these guys and their tees! Buy them here: www.badicalstore.com

T-shirt vault: INV Artist network

This one isn’t very old but when I originally posted about the INV Artist Network I didn’t have the actual shirt yet. For some reason I tend to never wear the shirts that I design so this one has stayed in my office closet since I got it. Because I never put it on I never noticed the tag print inside. Most design work is supposed to draw attention to the client rather than the artist; you never see a signature on a magazine ad. So when I spotted the tag and my name was on it I was very grateful. It’s a nice touch that would only matter to a designer.

In the next few weeks I will have an announcement regarding INV Artist Network. Stay tuned for upcoming developments.

New Damn Rascal shirt

Posted in graphic design, portfolio, t-shirt designs, Uncategorized with tags , , , on April 28, 2010 by jordanhalland

I got some requests for a shirt that didn’t say “Damn” on it so I designed this one to be wearable to church or to your grandmas.

We are now taking orders for t-shirts and will be placing the order with the screen printer May 6th. If you are interested in any of the three designs please let me know by e-mailing me. Include in your e-mail which shirt you want, your size and whether you want a mens or a women’s. The color of the designs may change a little an the color of the shirts probably will too but I will let you know if that happens.

T-shirt Vault: Leviathan Films

This was the first t-shirt I ever designed and printed. I was taking a screen printing class during my sophomore year of highschool and took full advantage of the educational opportunity. the whole process was done without a computer. I hand cut the design and adhered the plastic to the screen with glue. I taped it up and began printing.

This is the only one I ever printed but I love the shirt so much I litterally wore holes in the back of it. You can see that the bottom of the shirt is frayed and in tatters from my skateboard rubbing up against the shirt while carrying my board.

The design itself was the logo of the “film company” I was starting in my AP art class for the next period. I was making a skate video about Kalispell and convinced my Art teacher to purchase Adobe premiere. I don’t remember which version but it was archaic. The symbols are chinese or japanese symbols that I found in a book. I think they might have had something to do with maple trees. Skateboards are made out of maple and skateboarding was all I thought about back then. Also, skateboarding was going through a kind of fascination with the far east at the time and I felt the symbols were pretty cutting edge. Leviathan is a creature mentioned in the Book of Job. I thought it was such a cool name.

INV Artist Network Shirt

I’m slowly posting my work from the last year. This is one of my favorite pieces I have ever done. The original idea came to me years ago after attending a very pretentious fundraiser for Africa. I walked away with a troubling question on my mind. Is philanthropy trendy? For a while in the middle of the last decade every company seemed to hop on the pro Africa band wagon. Through organizations like (red) you can spend thousands and sleep better knowing that your money was going to help with relief in Africa. Even Chocolate skateboards teamed up with (Red) to raise awareness. My concern is if it is a trend then eventually it will be unfashionable to be concerned with Africa.
The shirt is supposed to make you ask questions rather than give you an answer. Because I really don’t know what is right. The fact that we are concerned with Africa right now is great and the attention that these companies bring to the issue is very much needed but what happens when the buzz word of the day is not Africa?

The INV guys are awesome and super easy to work with. We are planning to collaborate on a future line of t-shirts in the next few months. The INV guys also got my design in the Revo SD show a few weeks later. I was honored to be a part of both.
