Titus Andronicus: A More Perfect Union

Posted in interesting finds, Listen to:, music, Uncategorized, video with tags , , on April 9, 2010 by jordanhalland

I just love this video. The band is named after Shakespeare’s first known play about a general named Titus Andronicus who is caught in a cycle of revenge. Their first album titled “the Airing of our greviences,” take of course from Seinfeld, is angst filled and heavily distorted shoegaze that seems slightly more rough than their latest offering. The first track is an amazing kick in the butt that goes perfect with weaving between cars on your bike. They also interlace classic literature references and readings throughout both albums which give them more of a propaganda feel.

The second album is called “the monitor” and is a little more polished, but just a little. I love this band for their fury and love of history. They play like they are the last standing fortress of their beliefs, or maybe they are the first. Or maybe they aren’t saying anything serious at all. Whichever it is, it sounds amazing.

I decided to start doing more weekly topics. This will be the first one. I sit at my desk everyday for hours a day and a few months ago I discovered Lala.com. you can listen to any bands full album once and then decide whether to buy it or not. its awesome. Active child doesn’t have a full album on their yet but he is releasing a full albums worth of music piece by piece. the song wilderness is a cross between Bon Iver and Beach house. I can’t wait to hear a full album.
