This past Wednesday I filmed as our first line of shirts got printed. I can’t explain how awesome it is to see an idea become a reality. The response to the shirts has been overwhelming. We even were featured on a few blogs from around the world. This weekend is the first official gathering of the Damn Rascals and I can’t wait. Please let me know what you think about the video and head over to our store and purchase your favorite.

Our store opened yesterday and orders are already coming in. It’s exciting to see the potential. As of right now we are thinking small and paying cash for everything. Baby steps is the mantra! Please go to our online shop and order enough for you, your mom, and your clergymen.

While on vacation I read a book called “God and Guinness.” Its the amazing charitable history of the Guinness beer company. Throughout their history they were centuries ahead of their counterparts in the area of human rights and the rights of workers. One of the Guinness’ president favorite quote was ” You can’t expect to make money off people if you don’t allow them to make money off of you.” He was speaking of his workers and the amazing benefits they received in the 1800′s. Each employee could drink 2 pints of Guinness a day, they had an on call doctor, The company paid for each workers entire family to have a day in the country once a year including food and entertainment. They built houses for their employees, paid for higher education, taught them CPR and first aid for free, they even had a thinking room in the factory where men could go and relax and read one of the books in the Guinness library or just ponder how to make their life better. 200 years ago they did more for their employees than Google does for its employees today.
It was an amazing reminder of what is possible when people make the focus of their business bettering mankind rather than turning a profit. Damn Rascals is nowhere near the standard of Guinness and it probably will never be but it was a good example of the kind of boss I would like to be if I ever have employees.
